It all started when....
Actually this won’t be the story you expected. Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher, I thought it was my life’s calling. I went to Binghamton University where I graduated with a Masters in Education and well let’s just say after teaching for a solid five minutes I decided it wasn’t for me after all.
After coming to that harsh conclusion the “what now” set in. I decided to move home and start looking for jobs. Before I knew it I had been looking for a few weeks and I hadn’t found anything I liked. Ironically my mom, who was a branch manager at a mortgage bank at the time, was searching for someone to hire to be their full time marketing director. I had some experience in college with marketing and quickly decided I would start doing that while looking for something more permanent. Long story short, taking that job immersed me in a life and an industry I had never known. I spent the next three years marketing full time for realtors and loan officers at my mom’s bank and at another in Astoria after that. I liked my job, sure… but I needed something more. I spent all my time working to help realtors and loan officers find and finance peoples dream homes all the while thinking, I can do this better, I care more, I would work harder, I would strive to learn more. That’s when I had my “Aha” moment. I abruptly decided to give my two week notice, start studying for my loan officer licensing and become a Loan Officer.
I will never forget that phone call to my mom. My mom had recently decided to go back into sales and step down from managing a big group and all I can remember was telling her “Mom, I gave my two week notice at work. I am going to become a Loan Officer, like you!” Needless to say I think she almost passed out but seven years later, lots of great experiences, successful closings, and a smile that doesn’t seem to leave my face I think it’s safe to say she’s just as happy for me as I am for myself.
I love what I do, and if you’re around me enough you’ll be sure to hear me proclaim not only how much I love my job but how this job is quite frankly the best job in the entire world. I get to help people, from all walks or life and in all different financial situations finance their homes. Whether it’s the first time someone is purchasing a home in the entire history of their family or I’m working with a seasoned investor I get to help people achieve a type of financial freedom and success most only dream of.
I approach my business much like I do the other areas of my life. I treat others the way I would like to be treated, I work hard, I make sure I go above and beyond to not only help with the financing but to educate my clients on the home buying process. I try to think outside the box, I think of creative solutions to real life obstacles and most importantly I take what I do very seriously. I know that I am responsible for one of the most expensive purchases/investments you’ll ever make in your life and I don’t take that lightly.
There are loan officers and mortgage consultants everywhere but I’m not like any of them. I’m different, and I encourage you to go check out my reviews on Facebook because I promise my past clients will agree with me.
